The number of arthroplasties is rapidly increasing, however most materials used for such applications lack in osseointegration. The improvement of the bone/implant interface has received great attention for many years, with special reference to titanium-based implants. The interface between bone and implant has been considered both by physical approaches focused on surface topography and by chemical/biochemical surface modification by incorporation of organic molecules.

The LANIR Project has a Stand at the EuroNanoForum 2013 being held in Dublin, Ireland.

EuroNanoForum is Europe’s largest Nanotechnology and Materials Conference. It takes place every two years and receives funding from the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. ENF2013 (Dublin, 18-20 June 2013) will focus on the commercialisation of nanotechnologies, exploiting its potential for new applications and taking them further from enabling technologies to end products. Members of the project team will be present at in Dublin at Stand S56 (LANIR).

We have conducted numerical simulations of an original all-fibered mode-locked laser cavity. The results are in good agreement with experience. A few guidelines are then proposed to optimize such type of laser configuration.

The 2012 Workshop on Super-resolution and Life Sciences (WSRLS 2012) is devoted to the fields of high-resolution imaging techniques and their applications within life sciences. The mission of this workshop is to promote the global exchange of knowledge by facilitating the open dialogue between scientists working in high-resolution imaging. The workshop aims as well the identification of subjects that could be the core of collaborative research projects and funding possibilities.
